Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening — Robert Frost

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

These four lines are also very close to me. If I remember correctly, I had this poem in my English textbook in 5th standard. I even remember the day the teacher was reading this to us. It was raining outside and I was trying to capture the beauty of the green fields outside in my eyes. In other words, I was looking out the window and ignoring the class. But I think its these four lines that opened my eyes to a new world. They showed me that no matter how good (or bad) the situation, one should never stop. There is something so deep in these simple words that I cant ever explain it nicely. But I think if you read some other poems by Frost, you will understand what I am saying. I hope I always remember that I have miles to go before I sleep.
